HER MIND... — On Lucrecia Martel's "The Headless Woman"

“HER MIND...” is a verbal and visual essay on Lucrecia Martel’s 2008 film “The Headless Woman”.
My take on Lucrecia’s work was based on my perception of it as a moodpiece. We can’t say the movie is made upof various happenings which drive a plot.
Instead, it just gives space for the troubled mind of the protagonist (Vero, played by Maria Onetto) to spill and contaminate reality.
This spillage generates an ambience, a mood. In order to portray my vision to an editorial object, I took off from the fact that this mood is partially built by the subjective referents of the viewer. Memories, objects, cultural items, ideas, signs. As such, I complemented the text I had written about it and the stills from the movie with a concept reel. This concept reel describes all the idiossincratic associations that came to my mind while I was watching it, thus describing what this mood was, in a very personal fashion.
Later on, a poster was designed for the screening of the film at the Fine-Arts Faculty of Lisbon.
